Italy Day 5

As a lover of all things fashion, my trip to Italy would have been incomplete without visiting one of the most recognized international fashion capitals of the world - Milan. During our three days in Milan we stayed at the Excelsior Hotel Gallia Milan, a beautiful hotel overlooking Milan’s Central Station and home to a Shisedo Spa (which I was lucky enough to get an amazing facial!) and a breathtaking restaurant called Terrazza Gallia, where I was treated to a delicious birthday dining experience.

But, back to the fashion! On our first day in Milan, we had booked a “Food & Fashion” Tour that started off at the Emporio Armani Caffe. After indulging in chocolate croissants, fresh coffee and “designer chocolates,” we strolled through the city as our tour guide shared a unique history of the city of Milan while we admired famous landmarks like the Duomo and the Galleria Vittorio de Emanuele, Italy’s oldest active shopping mall. We were also treated to traditional Panettone (Italian sweet bread) and creamy Italian gelato. The city is home to several fashion designer themed hotels and restaurants including the Armani Hotel, Bulgari Hotel, Bar Martini by Dolce & Gabbana and the Fendi Casa Flagship store (a luxury home decor boutique!). As you can imagine, I was totally in my element. So, you can guess my excitement when after visiting all of these locations, we discovered the Armani Silos - a fashion art museum showcasing Giorgio Armani’s creations throughout the years. Spending our next afternoon in Milan exploring the museum was such a unique and memorable experience, and we learned so much about how much fashion and style has evolved over the years.

Our few days in Milan flew by, and our Italian adventure came to an end much too fast! We can’t wait to go back one day and explore the other beautiful cities in Italy — this time with our daughter!
